Pages that compare CJC-1295 and ipamorelin with sermorelin tend to count syringes, hours and “stacks,” and they skip the one idea that makes the comparison make sense: how many signals reach the pituitary. Sermorelin sends one. It is a synthetic copy of the first 29 amino acids of growth hormone-releasing hormone, or GHRH. CJC-1295 is also a GHRH analog, built to last far longer in the blood. Ipamorelin is a different kind of molecule altogether, a ghrelin-receptor agonist that reaches the same gland through a second door. This CJC-1295 and ipamorelin vs sermorelin comparison covers what each compound is, what the published studies actually measured, why the pairing exists, and what a certificate of analysis should show. Everything below describes laboratory research.
The live card below shows tesamorelin, a stabilized GHRH analog with its own listing and certificate. It is the worked example when the COA section gets to batch data.
CJC-1295 and ipamorelin vs sermorelin: what is the difference?
The short answer is receptors. Sermorelin works through the GHRH receptor alone. CJC-1295 works through the same GHRH receptor but is engineered to stay in circulation for days. Ipamorelin skips the GHRH receptor and acts on a ghrelin-type receptor. A “CJC-1295 and ipamorelin” combination therefore sends two signals by two routes, and sermorelin sends one. Whether two signals produce a better experimental result than one is the open question, and the evidence for it comes from a different peptide in a different decade, which the section on the pairing explains.

Sermorelin: one signal, one receptor
Sermorelin is the oldest of the three in the clinic. Walker’s 2006 review in Clinical Interventions in Aging asks whether sermorelin is a better way to manage adult-onset growth hormone insufficiency, which places it in a human endocrine context the other two lack. Because sermorelin keeps GHRH’s receptor and isn’t engineered for extended action, it makes a clean control in a design where the question is what a single, short GHRH pulse does. The site’s sermorelin peptide guide goes through the compound in more detail.
CJC-1295: the long-acting GHRH signal
Teichman and colleagues opened their paper with the problem CJC-1295 exists to solve: GHRH has a short duration of action. In two randomized, placebo-controlled trials in healthy adults, single injections produced dose-dependent rises in mean growth hormone of 2- to 10-fold for six days or more and in IGF-I of 1.5- to 3-fold for nine to eleven days, with an estimated half-life of 5.8 to 8.1 days. Ionescu and Frohman then asked whether that long exposure flattened the pulses. In healthy men aged 20 to 40, pulsatility persisted, with unchanged pulse frequency and size but markedly higher baseline (trough) levels.
One detail matters when you read a seller’s page: both papers concern the long-acting form of CJC-1295, the albumin-binding one. Vendors list a second form without that feature, and the data above cannot be borrowed for it. Check which form a certificate describes.
Ipamorelin: the second door
Ipamorelin was introduced in Raun and colleagues’ 1998 paper in the European Journal of Endocrinology as the first selective growth hormone secretagogue. It is a pentapeptide that released growth hormone from rat pituitary cells and in rats and swine, and receptor blocking experiments showed it acts through a GHRP-like receptor, the way GHRP-6 does, rather than the GHRH receptor. Its best-known later studies aren’t about growth hormone at all:a rat model of postoperative ileus and a phase 2 trial in 117 bowel-surgery patients. That trial found ipamorelin well tolerated and no significant efficacy difference from placebo. The result is useful as a reminder that ipamorelin has a human record, and that the record is about gut motility.
Why the pairing exists: two receptors, one gland
The case for combining a GHRH analog with a ghrelin-type secretagogue is older than either compound. In a 1995 study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, healthy controls given GHRH plus GHRP-6 released more growth hormone than the arithmetic sum of the two given separately. Ghigo’s review of growth hormone-releasing peptides describes the same family and its proposed mechanisms. That synergy is the entire logic behind the pairing, and notice what it rests on: GHRP-6, ipamorelin’s relative, and native GHRH. The papers cited here don’t test CJC-1295 with ipamorelin directly, so the synergy is an inference from relatives. It is a reasonable inference. It’s still an inference.
Sermorelin vs CJC-1295, and sermorelin vs ipamorelin, one at a time
Search results split the comparison in pieces, so it helps to answer each. Sermorelin vs CJC-1295 is a comparison between two GHRH analogs on one receptor, where the variable is duration. Sermorelin vs ipamorelin is a comparison between two different receptors, where the variable is the route to the pituitary. The three-way question has no shared head-to-head trial, and any page that ranks them has combined papers that used different species, different endpoints and different decades. The tesamorelin pages, tesamorelin vs CJC-1295 and tesamorelin vs ipamorelin, cover two of those pairs from the other side.
What the CJC-1295, ipamorelin and sermorelin studies can’t tell you
Three limits are worth stating plainly. First, the human CJC-1295 data are short, in healthy adults, and measure hormone levels, not any downstream outcome a clinic page might promise. Second, ipamorelin’s best human trial was about the gut, so its growth hormone record is mainly animal and in vitro. Third, sermorelin’s literature is a review of a clinical condition, which doesn’t transfer to the research settings the other two are used in. Add the missing direct test of the combination and the honest summary is that each compound has a record and the pairing mostly has a rationale.
Growth hormone peptide research in women
The hormone-level studies above skew toward men. Ionescu’s pulsatility study enrolled healthy men, and growth hormone secretion differs by sex and across the menstrual cycle, so results from men can’t be assumed to hold for women. A researcher framing a question around female physiology will want sex-stratified data, and for these three compounds it is thin. The growth hormone peptides guide goes through the family, and tesamorelin for women covers the one GHRH analog with a dedicated page.
CJC-1295, ipamorelin and sermorelin COA: what a lab report should show
Every Healio Peptides batch is tested by an independent US laboratory before release, and the report is published before you order. This is the current tesamorelin batch, shown as the model for what a GHRH-analog certificate looks like.
| Tesamorelin | |
|---|---|
| Batch | HEALIO-TESA-2616 |
| Purity (HPLC) | 99.5% |
| Identity (ESI-MS) | Confirmed, conforms to the reference standard (5135.86) |
| Endotoxins (LAL) | Under 0.5 EU/mg (limit 5 EU/mg) |
Ask for the same four lines from any seller of sermorelin, CJC-1295 or ipamorelin: purity by HPLC, identity by mass spectrometry, an endotoxin result, and a lot number that matches the vial. For CJC-1295, also ask which form the certificate describes. Identity deserves a close read for a 29 amino acid peptide such as sermorelin, which has more room for synthesis errors than a pentapeptide. Reading a peptide certificate of analysis walks through each row.
Price and format
Sermorelin, CJC-1295 and ipamorelin all arrive as lyophilized powder, and strengths and prices vary by seller. Two things make the price per vial misleading. Strength differs between vials, so compare cost per milligram, and a CJC-1295 vial and an ipamorelin vial are not interchangeable units in a combined design. The tesamorelin calculator shows how vial strength and water volume become a concentration, and the same arithmetic applies to any lyophilized peptide. Reconstitution uses bacteriostatic water for sale, and how to reconstitute peptides covers the handling.
Where to buy CJC-1295, ipamorelin and sermorelin for research
Whatever you source, look for a published certificate before anything else, and match the lot number to the vial. Healio Peptides publishes every batch certificate in the COA library, and orders go out from the United States. For the GHRH analog with a listing, the tesamorelin for sale page carries its certificate before you order, and the anti-aging peptides category shows the neighboring compounds.
CJC-1295 and ipamorelin vs sermorelin: frequently asked questions
Is CJC-1295 with ipamorelin better than sermorelin?
The evidence doesn’t rank them. The combination has a mechanistic rationale from GHRH plus GHRP-6 work, but no paper cited here tests CJC-1295 and ipamorelin together against sermorelin, so “better” has nothing underneath it.
What is the difference between CJC-1295 and sermorelin?
Both are GHRH analogs acting on the same receptor. Sermorelin isn’t engineered for extended action, while the long-acting form of CJC-1295 binds albumin and showed an estimated half-life of 5.8 to 8.1 days in one trial.
Does ipamorelin work the same way as sermorelin?
No. Ipamorelin acts through a GHRP-like receptor, the ghrelin family, while sermorelin acts through the GHRH receptor. They converge on growth hormone release by different routes.
What should a CJC-1295, ipamorelin or sermorelin certificate show?
Purity by HPLC, identity by mass spectrometry, an endotoxin result and a lot number that matches the vial. For CJC-1295, check which form the report describes.
Are CJC-1295, ipamorelin and sermorelin FDA approved?
Nothing on this page is a statement about any product’s legal status or medical advice. CJC-1295 and ipamorelin appear in published trials, and sermorelin has a clinical record in adult growth hormone insufficiency. Healio Peptides sells research compounds strictly for laboratory use.
Do CJC-1295 and ipamorelin reviews tell me anything useful?
Reviews mix different products, forms and expectations, so they say little about any one vial. A batch certificate says more: it ties a purity and identity result to a lot number you can check.
