Understanding units

The calculator tells you how many units to draw. Here is exactly what a unit is, and why it means the same thing on every insulin syringe.

1 1 unit = 0.01 mL

On a U-100 insulin syringe one unit is a hundredth of a millilitre. So 10 units is 0.1 mL, and 100 units is 1 mL. Units simply make very small volumes easier to read off the barrel.

2 A unit is always a unit

It does not matter which insulin syringe you pick up. Drawing to 20 units pulls the same 0.2 mL on a 0.3 mL, a 0.5 mL or a 1 mL syringe. The tick marks never change size.

3 Syringes hold different totals

What changes between syringes is how many of those marks fit on the barrel. A bigger syringe is not a bigger unit, it is just more room.

0.3 mL30 units max
0.5 mL50 units max
1.0 mL100 units max

Example: a 20-unit draw is 0.2 mL on all three syringes above. The only difference is how much empty barrel is left behind it.

How the GLOW 70 calculator works

GLOW 70 is a 3-peptide blend in one 70mg vial: 50mg GHK-Cu, 10mg BPC-157 and 10mg TB-500. It is a lyophilized powder that is mixed with bacteriostatic water before use. This calculator opens on the 70mg preset with 5mL of water loaded and works out the concentration of the whole vial. Because the vial holds several compounds, the figure that matters for each one is its own share of the 70mg, which the sections below set out.

GLOW 70 reconstitution: each compound has its own concentration

Concentration is mass divided by water volume, and each compound in the blend has its own mass. With 5mL of bacteriostatic water in the vial:

  • GHK-Cu, 50mg in the vial: 10mg/mL, which is 100mcg per unit
  • BPC-157, 10mg in the vial: 2mg/mL, which is 20mcg per unit
  • TB-500, 10mg in the vial: 2mg/mL, which is 20mcg per unit

The compounds share one syringe draw, so a draw carries all of them in the same proportions as the vial. Adding more water lowers every concentration together without changing the ratios between them. The calculator shows the total concentration (14mg/mL for 70mg in 5mL), and the list above gives each component’s share of it.

GLOW 70 calculator: milligrams to syringe units

The conversion is two divisions. Divide the amount by the concentration to get the volume in mL, then multiply by 100 to read it as units on a U-100 insulin syringe. At 14mg/mL total, 1mg of the blend is 0.07mL, which reads as 7.14 units. The doses-in-vial figure divides 70mg by the amount, so the vial holds 70 draws of 1mg of blend on paper. If a reading falls under 2 units, add water and the calculator confirms the new figure.

Check the vial before you calculate

Every figure starts from the strength printed on the vial, so confirm it against the certificate of analysis for your batch. Healio publishes each one on the research page, and how to read a certificate of analysis explains which figures actually prove something. Once the vial is mixed, write the water volume, the concentration and the date on the label. Our guide to reconstituting peptides covers the handling, and how long bacteriostatic water lasts covers the in-use window.

GLOW 70 for sale from Healio is a single 70mg vial. Each component also has its own page: GHK-Cu, BPC-157 and TB-500. The all-peptide calculator handles any other vial strength.

GLOW 70 calculator FAQ

How much bacteriostatic water goes in a 70mg GLOW 70 vial?

It is a choice, not a fixed answer. 2mL gives 35mg/mL, 5mL gives 14mg/mL and 10mL gives 7mg/mL for the whole blend. The volume sets every concentration in the vial at once.

What is in a GLOW 70 vial?

50mg GHK-Cu, 10mg BPC-157 and 10mg TB-500, 70mg of compound in a 70mg vial. Read the certificate of analysis for the batch for the measured figures.

How do I calculate each compound in GLOW 70?

Divide that compound’s mass by the water volume. With 5mL, GHK-Cu is 10mg/mL, BPC-157 is 2mg/mL and TB-500 is 2mg/mL.

How many units is 1mg of GLOW 70?

At 14mg/mL total, 1mg of the blend is 0.07mL, which is 7.14 units on a U-100 syringe. It is 1mg of the whole blend, not 1mg of one compound.

Does the calculator recommend an amount of GLOW 70?

No. It converts the figures you enter and makes no recommendation. Healio supplies research compounds for laboratory use, so quantities belong to the protocol a researcher is working to.

Can I use this calculator for other peptides?

Yes. The arithmetic does not change between compounds, only the vial strength does. The all-peptide calculator holds presets for every Healio compound.
